Anyway, so my friends Cheri, Kris and I got some material at the Upcycle Exchange with was much cooler the second time I went.
I've found with my "creative" side still comes a high level of OCD. I like things in a specific order. I like the familiar. And as with painting and pottery and even with my first stop at the Upcycle exchange the unfamiliar brought on many levels of anxiety. As with my 2nd time painting, my 2nd trip to the Upcycle exchange was much less "panicked" So I think I have enough material for a twin size quilt. (for about $20)
Here's a crazy idea, I think I am going to actually keep it for myself????? It is crazy.
I am thinking i *might* attempt this MEGA time consuming quilt with my material from the upcycle exchange. I will have to buy the white (A LOT of it)
Here’s the tutorial on how to make it.
Or maybe a ragged version of this:
Still trying to decide. I have no children Saturday evening or the better part of Sunday. I may actually have time to cut fabric.
Of course I really should be working on the damn Tardis quilt that needs to be completed by the end of May.
I sent my husband random texts like “Dr. Who can suck it” and “I wonder if anyone ever set the Tardis on fire?” He just smiles and walks away slowly….
The original plan was to try and make this 2 dimensional version of the Tardis.
What this experience has reminded me is I never liked geometry and this is a big geometry problem. The mere thought of which has resulted in one or two (or 10) anxiety attacks. Thus the executive decision has been made to go with the (lame) one dimensional version.
Like this, with more detail like the
So I did make one of the 3 - 4 barns on my to do list.
The 1st one went to Timothy for his 2nd birthday. I've been told it was one of the top 2-3 presents things the birthday boy plays with. Grandma and Grandpa had to go and top me with a Cozy Coupe car. Damn you Wagoner's.
Anyway I learned a few things on the 1st run that should make the next couple I make go a little smoother.
My God Daughter Juliana will be getting one of these for her birthday in June. (Probably should make this also before I start my Upcycle project.)
And yes the counter I took the picture on is messy - don't judge me.
I also completed two baby quilts from new mommies.
I love the softness of the minky/flannel combo -

but the colors of the blue and red quilt along with the "modern" look of the strip quilt shot it to the top of my favorites list.
Bryana had a ridiculous winter season of basketball. Things slowed down a bit for the Spring session, but it's all ramping up again for the summer leagues. We will again be playing for both Lindbergh and Mehlville over the summer. Both teams are also holding a summer "camp" that she'd like to attend. Trying to work those details out as well. (shoot me now)
Tatiana and Bryana will be babysitting over the summer, nice way for them to make some cash for themselves. :)
Last Saturday we spent the day at Missouri S&T. Cianah has signed up for all her classes and I think we have figured out the bulk of the financial aid part of things. We drop her off at school August 11th - this summer is going to FLY by.
Bryana had a track meet while we were in Rolla. She took 1st place in the shot put!! That kid continues to excel at everything she does. So cool!
We are planning our first annual family camp out with the FUBO group. 8 of the FUBO ladies and their families will hit Bluffview Campground on Clearwater Lake on May 18th. I am super excited. I may be the only one in my house that is excited - but most of them are playing along very well.
Cianah's prom is this weekend and graduation is June 3 so look for more photos that you want to see of my kids in the upcoming months.
